Just a rant

Well, because I have been good about this and some folks seem to be reading it from what I am hearing, I wanted to post something quick this morning. 

Sandy was home for the weekend and we went to a B-Day party of sorts for an old friend on Sat., we had a good time hanging out together and with them of course.  We don't get to do that much with her working in MASS for a while longer, just to long of a story to tell here.  I made her sit through Ironman as I watched it for the 2nd time.  I am not much to do that, sit and watch a movie, but I really enjoyed this one.  I am hoping to see the new Hulk movie now becuase of the trailer on Ironman.

Well, we have been getting flurries since lastnight, actually got a dust covering on the ground, after it turned back from mid-June type weather from Sunday.  So, it will not be long before we start seeing and providing DOG SLED rides from up jere in Northern New Hampshire.  Makes the winter much more interesting and speed it up a bit too!

Well, I need to get ready to go to the grain store, both the steer and horse need hay and the steer is out of grain.  Went to the grain store last week and they where closed on Tuesday because of the holiday.

Wear BLAZE ORANGE

Well, I just wanted to re-enforce the BLAZE ORANGE vest thing while hunting season is in full swing here in Northern New Hampshire - See my background color?  Given an accident that happened during the 2008 moose hunt in VT, as well as an article I read by Tom Rideout in his own publication nhoutdoorgazette.com It identifies what can happen out there as well as a display that he use to see at trade shows by a rifle manufacturer. 

Can you see yourself being shot?  I could if the circumstances sight lines distances were right.

The hunter in question mis-identified a fellow hunter and shot him during the moose hunt in VT. The hunter who was shot WAS NOT wearing blaze, and this likely contributed to the accident - I DO NOT let the shooter off the hook for this incident, 20+yrs of Military service and training have taught me to KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE SHOOTING AT, if not DO NOT shoot!

Hiker, hunters, dog team training what ever the reason you are out there, you MUST wear ORANGE - Safety first Sandy would agree!

I know some folks have issues with hunters and a few are definitely not respectful in many ways, but that is not our expierence at the Lodge.   Our hunting crews have been respectful, enviromentalists and even trainers to those that know little about the sport, and we thank them for it.  But, we also do not want to be even remotely involved with an accident of this nature. Its just not good for business, and we want all of you and our hunters back or in front of us at some point again.

So, enough preaching – WEAR your BLAZE ORANGE vest’s! Most hunting in NH closes on Dec 15th., but not all.
